I saw a post from my cousin on Facebook: “Medea’s Destination Wedding a huge NO.” I replied “I don’t have any expectations . . . .” I know if you are a Medea fan you are going to watch it.
Glenn Kenny in the New York Times wrote: “. . . if Medea speaks your movie love language, it’s all about the journey, not the destination”
I would add that for me, it wasn’t worth the 1 hour and 42 minute journey.
I admire and respect Tyler Perry as a filmmaker, writer, producer and director, and also mostly as an actor (in dramatics roles).
I like the Medea character and have seen many of the movies and plays. I liked his portrayal of Joe.
I admire that Perry has created his own studio sans Hollywood and employs lots of folks of color.
And I see plenty of bad “white” movies so I was happy to see this Black movie that I believe was not his best work.
So cousin, I agree with you. But encourage folks to watch anyway with lowered expectations and form your own opinion.
Just one small fact, and not a spoiler: To the best of my knowledge, one cannot walk into a passport office and walk out with a passport minutes later.
