Book Review: Self-Love Magic 10-Minute Daily Rituals to Build Confidence, Boost Self-Care and Nurture Self-Worth by Olga Kaminer, PhD
First of all I know the author, Olga, and I knew how important love is to her, having personally witnessed her over a three week period at retreats in Mexico with the “Love Guru” and my bestie, James MacNeil.
Olga and I studied together, laughed together and I met some of her family.
Despite that I at first was reluctant to review her book because I did not have high expectations. Fortunately I was thrilled that my expectations were more than exceeded and blown out of the water.
I read the book in a PDF format and was happy to purchase it in book form so that I could hold it in my hands.
The subtitle says it all: "10-Minute Daily Rituals to Build Confidence, Boost Self-Care, and Nurture Self-Worth"
She had me at the title and the opening quote from Howard Thurman, "Don't ask yourself what the world needs. Ask yourself what makes you come alive, and go do that, because what the world needs is people who have come alive."
Olga has come alive and she shares her story and journey with us and how she practices self-love. It is not a mountain top teaching. She talks the talk and walks the walk.
The primary relationship is with yourself and few of us work on it. Olga starts off by setting the stage in the introduction "building the home within"
Most of us would never talk to others the way we talk to ourselves.
Olga clearly lays out how to love yourself and includes daily affirmations, journaling, meditations and much more.
Step by step she helps the reader examine their self-worth, set healthy boundaries, heal from emotional trauma, transform negative self-talk, balance multiple roles and expectations, overcome the fear of judgment, reconnect with your true self, and much more.
It is an easy, practical read with self care practices for morning, midday, evening, and on the go.
Every chapter has a recap and reflection.
The appendix contains a 30 day self-love challenge with short daily challenges that are fun too!
Finally there are additional tools and resources.
If you love yourself or want to love yourself better, get this book immediately. To quote a Tuck and Patti song, "Love is the key, take it from me, show your [self] love"
Olga, I love you more for showing me and others how to love ourselves. In deep gratitude, Kiki.
